Easy Love by R5 (a commentary on the Disney Wunderkind)

Okay guys, I’m procrastinating so I thought I’d post about one of my most-played songs lately. I have an almost 20-month-old at home so needless to say, I watch a lot of Disney with him. I’m a little cynical about the Disney star-maker machine, but a lot of the artists they sponsor actually turn out to be pretty good, so I hope they shed the Disney wunderkind label and go on to have great careers. For example, Disney wasn’t even on my radar when people like Demi Lovato and Zac Efron were getting started, but I like them, don’t I?
Exhibit B:
So I shouldn’t be surprised that I’m liking some of these new artists that I’m watching with my son. Two of my favorites are The Vamps and R5. Frontman for R5, Ross Lynch is also on one of the tv shows, and the kiddo absolutely loves him, so I downloaded their albums to listen to. My favorite song off of their new EP is Easy Love. The reason I like it so much is because I really wasn’t expecting such an insightful, mature lyric from essentially a teeny bopper band (sorry guys but ya know, Disney). Here are the words:
Easy Love by R5 Lovin’ you ain’t easy Nothin’ ever is But I will keep on fightin’ For a love like thisYou know I wouldn’t have it any other way Even when times get tough I don’t want no easy love This is a track for the guys with A love that lasts is like a unicorn Lovin’ you ain’t easy You know I wouldn’t have it Second verse goes to the females Are we crass? Undeniable Lovin’ you ain’t easy You know I wouldn’t have it I don’t believe in “Nothin’ lasts forever” And I know we can’t live without each other Lovin’ you ain’t easy You know I wouldn’t have it Lovin’ you ain’t easy You know I wouldn’t have it |
See? Some adults never even figure that shit out. I know they might not have written it, but still, it’s a good message to all the kids (and possibly thirty-two year olds) out there listening to them.
Are there any songs out there that you think you probably shouldn’t like but you really do?
