“Horsespiration” for The Gift

Hi all! I hope you enjoyed the Holiday Flash Fiction blog hop. If you read my story, and I hope you did, you might be wondering a bit about the inspiration behind it. I’ve been wanting to write a cowboy/horse story since I started writing, since I spent the early years of my career working at two different horse farms. One was a trail ride barn in a lovely park, and the other was an Irish Draught breeding farm, on the most beautiful 1300 acres you’ll ever find. Also, while working at the first one, I had the opportunity to travel with them to another gorgeous place to ride in the NC mountains.

The three of these places came together in my head to inspire Twisted Oak Ranch from The Gift.

I can’t wait to get started writing the full-length novel. I have so many stories built up from that time in my life that I can’t wait to share with you all. I met my husband working as a trail guide, and we got married in the park there, riding away on horseback.
