Interview With Author Jamie Lake
Author Jamie Lake on Being the Bad Boy of M/M
A kindergarten teacher who moonlights as an erotic massage therapist at night? Say what …? That’s what you get when you read Jamie Lake’s new series, Bad Boy: Naughty at Night. More than just a steamy read, if you’re looking for an emotional roller coaster with an element of danger then I highly recommend his books. Today, I connected with Jamie about this series and what was involved in creating it.
For my readers who haven’t had a chance to read Bad Boy yet, what’s it about?
This is a story that was inspired by true events about a hot kindergarten teacher that needs money so bad that he’s willing to do anything, even moonlight as an erotic massage therapist for men. Along the way, he falls in love with a cop and juggles his secret double-life and all that comes with hiding something so dangerous.
How did you come up with this story?
Like I mentioned, it was inspired by something that happened and then my imagination just grew from there. I started thinking about what would make this situation even harder for the main character? What would make it hard emotionally? What if he met the man of his dreams finally and had to hide this secret from him? How would the man react if he found out? How would the school he was working for react?
Tell us about Peter. How did you create this character?
Peter is a great guy. He’s the last person you’d ever expect to become an erotic massage therapist but desperate times call for desperate measure and it’s easy to judge people who are in the adult industry until you really get to know their past and what they’ve been through. I think even Peter would have judged people too, had he not found himself in this predicament.
Chip, the love interest is a detective. Tell us about him.
Chip is hot. My fantasy, dating a cop. Aaaahhh… Haha. He’s a good guy, a man’s man. A guy’s guy and a great father who just wants to finally settle down and meet someone who’ll be cool with the fact that he has a son. He thinks he’s found the perfect person in his son’s kindergarten teacher but as the truth slowly unravels about Peter’s issues, he finds himself questioning if this is something that he wants to really get involved in. But by the time he finds out, he’s already head over heels in love with Peter.
I love the Tony character. He’s sexy but seems dangerous. Who did you model him after?
I kind of modeled him after someone that I dated once who was in the mafia but sort of exaggerated his antics. The guy I dated was a sweet heart except when he got drunk, then he was a real asshole.
Were you worried about having a story with a teacher that is doing such a scandalous side job?
Oh, yeah. I wondered how people would react. Most people are intrigued and that tells me that I was on the right path.
